Doll Fixation is something I created a few years ago and I think the name sums up what I'm all about. I've been fixated on barbie since I was a kid and as a young adult.
My concepts are mostly a combination of high fashion mixed with the element of fantasy. Two things that I admire and draw inspiration from. My creative process isn't planned. I think of how a doll will look but by the time she's done she usually looks a lot different than how I pictured she would look like. I just go with what inspires me and just have fun with it.
When creating my dolls, I use the highest quality materials I can find. All clothing items are sewn by hand and created from new fabrics and materials. Outfits are always removeable.
When repainting, I use a variety of different artist quality acrylic paints and sealers.
I reroot my dolls using Saran or Nylon. I like using a variety of bright colors. I use the needle/knot method and I knot every hair plug myself. Then the hair is set, washed, conditioned and styled.
I take my time with each doll and try to put as much detail into each creation as possible. It can take anywhere from 1 - 2 weeks for me to create and finish a doll project.
I always include a handwritten thank you note and COA with each ooak (one of a kind) creation. My dolls are all created in a smoke free environment but not pet free. I do have a kitty. All my creations come from my heart and I hope they inspire you, like they inspire me!
